The Physics requirement must include two lectures and at least one lab, for a total of seven credits. Courses must be selected from: (PHYS 111 PHYS 111L PHYS 113 PHYS 113L ) or (PHYS 207 PHYS 207L PHYS 209 PHYS 209L ) or (PHYS 211/211L PHYS 213/213L ).

Only one credit required for major.

4 Thirteen credits, or as needed to meet 120 credits total, of free electives are required for the degree.

5 Twenty-four credits of program approved electives are required for the degree.

Program Learning Outcomes:

  1. Graduates will understand Biology based on principles of basic sciences and mathematics, preparing them for professional careers and graduate or professional school.
  2. Graduates will acquire laboratory and data analysis skills required for careers in biology, graduate or professional school through laboratory courses and independent research experiences.
  3. Graduates will communicate effectively and professionally through written and oral means on aspects of biology.
  4. Graduates will master problem-solving skills in biology.

Student Learning Outcomes:

  1. Graduates will demonstrate understanding of mathematics and basic sciences, including chemistry and physics.
  2. Graduates will demonstrate understanding of principles of biology.
  3. Graduates will demonstrate laboratory and data analysis skills commensurate with entry-level positions in graduate and professional schools.
  4. Graduates can give effective oral presentations on an aspect of biology learned from coursework, the literature, or laboratory research.
  5. Graduates can compose effective written presentations on an aspect of applied biological sciences learned from coursework, the literature, or laboratory research.
  6. Graduates will demonstrate mastery of problem-solving skills in biology.
  7. Graduates will demonstrate the ability to integrate problem-solving skills into research-related problems.
