GEOE 461/561 Geothermal and Production Engineering

Credits: (3-0) 3

This course introduces the engineering principles of modern geothermal and hydrocarbon energy well drilling and production engineering. Drilling topics include drilling facilities, design of drilling, casing, cementing, and completion of geothermal and hydrocarbon wells.  Production topics include well testing, well in-flow performance, wellbore damage characterization, and well test design and data acquisition.  Reservoir engineering topics include single and multi-phase flow, modeling of geothermal and hydrocarbon production, and permeability testing.

Notes: A minimum grade of “C” is required for graduation with a Geological Engineering BS. Students enrolled in GEOE 561 will be held to a higher standard than those students enrolled in GEOE 461.
