EE 458/458L/558/558L Avionics II - Avionics Systems Development & Certification/Lab

This course focuses on the details related to avionics system, hardware and software, development processes which are utilized for regulatory approval of equipment in the US for commercial aircraft. Included are topics related to redundancy, reliability, and safety. Procedures related to environmental qualification will be reviewed. The lab portion of the course will include a research project and several case studies of prior aircraft certifications.

Prerequisites: EE 457/457L/557/557L and senior standing
Corequisites: EE 458L/558L
Notes: Students enrolled in EE 558/558L will be held to a higher standard than those enrolled in EE 458/458L
