BIOL 447 Emerging and Re-emerging Diseases

Credits: 3

The emergence of novel disease or the threat of disease re-emergence where it has previously been controlled or eradicated is driven by a complex web of biological, environmental, social, and political factors. This course is designed to explore how these driving factors have impacted modern disease outbreaks and to understand their role in forming predictions of future disease emergence or re-emergence events. This course emphasizes concepts in virology, microbiology, molecular genetics, epidemiology, public health, and ecology.

Prerequisites: BIOL 331 
Pre or Corequisites: BIOL 371
