BIOL 451 Applications of Environmental Microbiology

Credits: 3

This course focuses on the fundamental and modern techniques in environmental microbiology. This course has been divided into three major modules covering the (i) fundamental details on microbial physiology, metabolism, and their interactions in the microcosmic environment, (ii) use of computational tools and simulation techniques to study the microbial interactions at molecular and atomistic level, and (iii) applications of state-of-the-art technologies (e.g., DNA editing) to enhance the remedial role and to reduce the pathogenic role of microbes in societal challenges of broader interests.
