GEOL 455 Underground Storage

This course examines industry applications of subsurface storage in geologic structures, such as caverns in domal or bedded salt, mined hardrock caverns, and porous media. Topics include energy storage, sequestration, and waste disposal. Students will explore the framework of permits, monitoring and verification plans, plug and abandonment plans, and hazard mitigation plans.

Prerequisites: MATH 125 and (PHYS 207 or PHYS 211)
