CENG 442/442L/542/542L Microprocessor Design/Lab

Presents the tools and concepts required for the design of microprocessors. Emphasis is given to the problems of implementing a specified Instruction Set Architecture, design trade-offs, and the use of development tools in the design process. Students will learn to design and implement a pipelined CPU suitable for use in embedded systems. Design projects will be implemented in the laboratory using VHDL.

Prerequisites: CENG 320/320L and CENG 242/242L
Corequisites: CENG 442L/542L
Notes: Students enrolled in CENG 542/542L will be held to a higher standard than those enrolled in CENG 442/442L.
