Examine the scientific method and evaluate effective communication in scientific research publications. Investigate propagation of uncertainties, biases, and assumptions in research activities. Explore current trends, dilemmas, and seminal publications of Geoscience literature. Ethics and societal impacts of scientific research and communication are emphasized.

Prerequisites: GEOL 322
Notes: Students pursuing a BSin Geology must earn a grade of “C” or higher in GEOL 322 to meet prerequisite requirements for this course. A grade of “C” or higher is required in this course for graduation with a Geology, BS.
