Notes:
1 Fulfills General Education requirement. Students should consult the General Education Requirements section of this catalog for a complete listing of all general education requirements.
2 The electives in this degree consist of three categories:
- Upper Level Science Electives: Select 12 credits with a Biology or Chemistry prefix at the 300 or 400 level. Other approved/recommended courses appear below.
- Upper Level Humanities/Social Science Electives: Select 6 credits of courses with a Social Science prefix (see gen ed Goal 3 for approved prefixes) and at least 3 credits of courses with a Humanities prefix (see gen ed Goal 4 for approved prefixes). All must be at the 300 or 400 level.
- Free Electives: Select any courses to complete the 120 required degree credits. Can be from any discipline and any number level between 100-400.
3 The Physics requirement must include two lectures and at least one lab, for a total of seven credits. Courses must be selected from: (PHYS 111 , PHYS 111L , PHYS 113 , PHYS 113L ) or (PHYS 207 , PHYS 207L , PHYS 209 , PHYS 209L ) or (PHYS 211/211L , PHYS 213/213L ).
4 Only one credit required for major.

The following courses are recommended and/or pre-approved for the Upper Level Science Electives. Others may be selected if they have a Biology or Chemistry prefix and at the 300 or 400 level:

- Graduates will demonstrate broad-based and integrative understanding of principles of biology, physics, chemistry, mathematics, and social sciences that prepare them for successful admission into health-related graduate or professional schools or employment in health fields.
- Graduates will demonstrate laboratory, technical, and data analysis skills commensurate with admission requirements for professional or graduate schools in the health-related professions or employment in health fields.
Communication
- Graduates will demonstrate proficiency in professional written and oral communication, including use of professional electronic communication and maintaining responsible digital footprints.
- Students will demonstrate leadership skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with diverse teams.
Critical Thinking
- Graduates will develop a behavior of questioning, quantitative reasoning, and analytical skills that lead to a life-long habit of learning.
